Lightning investigated as cause of Goodlettsville house fire

GOODLETTSVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – Fire officials are investigating whether or not a lightning strike is to blame for a Goodlettsville house fire.

The home on Hanover Court caught fire around 6:45 p.m. and the fire department said they know there was a lightning strike nearby at the time.

The upstairs of the home was completely destroyed. The downstairs was flooded with water after firefighters extinguished the flames.

News 2 learned a young couple, believed to have just moved to the area, lives inside. At the time of this report, officials haven’t been able to contact the family.

Neighbors said they moved to Goodlettsville recently and don’t believe they had moved in.

The fire remains under investigation. Further details have yet to be released.
