NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – Two people were injured in a wrong-way crash in Whites Creek early Saturday morning.
It happened near the Whites Creek Pike exit around 4 a.m.
Police told News 2 a white sedan was driving west in the eastbound lanes of Briley Parkway when it crashed into another sedan, causing that car to catch fire.
Each vehicle contained only one occupant, a man and a woman, both of which were transported to area hospital in critical condition.
A FedEx driver was one of the first on the scene and assisted in helping the woman escape her burning vehicle.
“The lady passed me, was fixing to get back in the right lane and then this other car came over the hill and they just hit head on and there was a big explosion,” said witness Rickey Robertson.
“We tried to get her out of the car before she got burned and luckily we did.”
The roadway reopened around 9:30 a.m.
