NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — With less than a month before the expected end of the Tennessee legislative session, lawmakers are expected to take aim at another gun bill next week.

The so-called “campus carry” bill would allow faculty and staff at state higher education facilities to carry a weapon on campus if they have a proper handgun permit.

The measure has been in the legislative pipeline for much of the session but is scheduled for two major committee stops this coming week in the House and Senate.

Senate sponsor Mike Bell has been working on an amendment that would provide ways for campus security to know which staffers might have weapons and to provide further training for them.
