‘Device’ left behind after armed Wilson County bank robbery; Suspect in custody

GLADEVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – The bomb squad was called to a Wilson County bank on Friday after a device was left on the counter following an armed robbery.

The sheriff’s office said the suspect, 37-year-old Matthew Jones, left the device after robbing the Wilson Bank and Trust in Gladeville on Stewarts Ferry Pike.

All of the employees and customers were safely evacuated.

The bomb squad was called to the scene and a robot was used to detonate the device.

The Wilson County Sheriff’s Office reported Jones was taken into custody around 1 a.m. Saturday morning.

No additional information was immediately released.
