WILSON COUNTY, Tenn. (WKRN) – The Fire Chief and Deputy Director of Wilson County Emergency Management Agency announced he will soon be retiring.

Keith Taylor’s 38-year career began in 1978 when he became a volunteer with what was then the Wilson County Civil Defense.

Two years later, he became a paid employee, hired by the city of Lebanon and then the county.

In 1982, Chief Taylor was promoted to Captain and Shift Commander before becoming the Fire Chief in 1999.

“There will be a significant amount of knowledge lost as Chief Taylor leaves us,” Director Joey Cooper stated during WEMA’s monthly administrative staff meeting. “We will never be able to replace what Keith has built up.”

Taylor will begin his retirement on April 1, 2016.
