According to Kentucky State Police, 34-year-old Joseph Harris, of Lewisburg, allegedly shot his ex-girlfriend at a McDonald’s parking lot before he fled on foot on North Main Street in Russellville around 11:15 a.m.

Police said the 28-year-old victim attempted to drive away, but she hit a home across the street.

She was transported to a Bowling Green hospital for treatment for a single gunshot wound to her upper body. She was last listed in stable condition.

According to investigators, after Harris shot his ex, he ran away but was confronted by three police officers just down the street in front of the Super Wash car wash.

Harris was shot three times by police at the intersection of Armory Drive after he brandished a firearm toward the officers. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Krang, who owns Russellville Donut Shop across from the Super Wash, was struck in the neck by a stray bullet. He was flown to TriStar Skyline Medical Center in Nashville where he is currently in fair condition, which means his conscious but needs constant monitoring.

“He was always nice,” said Russ Hayes, who owns a business next to Krang’s. He said Krang is Vietnamese and doesn’t speak great English but was always nice.

Two bullets also flew into Hayes’ store, which forced his employee to duck for cover.

“My employee and her brother were right here, they ducked and the bullet went right over their head,” he told News 2. “I’m just glad no one was hurt in my store but we don’t know who shot Mr. Krang.”

Trooper B.J. Eaton said it has not yet been determined if the suspect fired at the officers.

No officers were injured. The investigation is ongoing.

The Logan County Sheriff Wallace Whitaker told News 2 that Harris was arrested on March 5 for allegedly breaking into his ex-girlfriend’s house and threatening to kill her. He was charged with carrying a concealed weapon and burglary.

Harris was out on $10,000 bond at the time of the shooting.

The City of Russellville has a population of over 6,000 people and is located in Logan County, about 54 miles north of Nashville.
