Organizers said that moving the 22 dogs that were already in shelters in Mississippi to Nashville helps open up needed space in the flood devastated state.

“The dogs that we are receiving today are dogs that are currently in shelters in Mississippi and they are now moving to our shelter so we can find them forever homes,” Kenneth Tallier with the Nashville Humane Association said.

Another 50 rescued dogs will be headed to Pennsylvania.
