NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – A Pearl-Cohn Entertainment Magnet High School student was arrested Wednesday and charged with possession of a weapon on school property and aggravated assault.

Metro police said a semi-automatic handgun was found in the trunk of a car in the parking lot at Whites Creek High School on Wednesday.

A student there reported seeing Michael Boyd Jr., 18, retrieve the gun during dismissal at 2:10 p.m. Boyd is further accused of racking the weapon and placing it in his pocket.

According to police, the student had reportedly been involved in an argument and confrontation with Boyd the day prior. During that incident, two shots were fired into the air.

Police say school resource officers approached Boyd in the parking lot and recovered a gun from the trunk.
