Loniel Greene pleads not guilty to coercion Wednesday

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – A former Metro councilman and his cousin both pleaded not guilty on Wednesday on charges of coercion.

Loniel Greene and Tavares Buchanan are accused of trying to talk Buchanan’s ex-girlfriend out of testifying against him.

Buchanan was arrested on a slew of charges last December, including kidnapping and domestic assault.

Greene is only charged with coercion in connection to the case.

His attorney, Same Coleman, said, “He does know how serious this matter can be. and he wants to get it behind him as soon as possible. He understands how things can be [construed], misunderstood in a lot of ways.”

Both men are due back in court on April 1.
