Worker dies after falling down elevator shaft at West Meade home

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – A construction worker was killed after he fell down an elevator shaft at a West Meade home Wednesday morning.

It happened at a home under construction in the 600 block of Belle Park Circle around 8:15 a.m.

Police told News 2 Leonardo Salazar, 38, was on the third-floor of the residence when he fell down an elevator shaft to the first, hitting his head along the way.

Officials said Salazar died on the scene.

Metro police are calling the death accidental following a preliminary investigation, and said there is no evidence of foul play.

Representatives from the Tennessee Occupational Safety and Health Administration were sent to the scene, and a medical examiner will determine the cause of death.
