MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (WKRN) – A Murfreesboro high school athlete just keeps adding to her list of accomplishments. Crystal Dangerfield is on a roll.
She is already ranked No. 1 among point guards and has led Blackman High School to two class AAA state championships.
Now, the Blackman High senior can add the 2016 Morgan Wootten Player of the Year to her list of accomplishments.
The national honor comes a day after the point guard was named Tennessee’s Miss Basketball 2015.
“It’s just a great honor. When they told me I was shocked, I almost cried,” Dangerfield told News 2.
The Murfreesboro native is the first person out of Tennessee to win the award and one of only 15 female winners.
“If you see the list, it’s all great players. I think this one means the most.”
The award also embodies her character off of the court, shining a light on her leadership and values.
She has one goal left to check off her list, and that’s to win the national championships with the UConn Huskies.
