Armed man surrenders after barricading himself inside Millersville apartment

MILLERSVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – Police have taken into custody an armed man who barricaded himself inside a Millersville apartment early Wednesday morning.

It began at a residence in the Ridge at Greenhaven apartments on Lewis Street around Midnight on Tuesday.

Police told News 2 they came to check on the man after a concerned family member called authorities.

When officers knocked on the door, the 48-year-old man reportedly slammed the door in their face and claimed to be armed.

Officers made several attempts to contact the man before he surrendered to police around 5 a.m.

One weapon was recovered by officers after the man surrendered.

SWAT officers and Gallatin police assisted Millersville police with the situation.

Residents of the apartment complex were asked to remain in their homes and direct neighbors were evacuated for their safety.

The man was taken to an area hospital for a mental evaluation.
