COOKEVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — A Rockwood man turned himself in Tuesday for an incident that happened on Christmas Eve involving an officer.

Police reportedly were in pursuit of 35-year-old Joshua Scarlett, who police claim was driving a stolen vehicle.

After the pursuit, the officer approached Scarlett. Scarlett then put the car in reverse and reportedly tried to hit the officer.

Investigators found the officer fired his weapon, striking Scarlett in the face.

On Feb. 17, the Roane County Grand Jury charged Scarlett with one count of aggravated assault with a weapon, one count felony reckless endangerment and one count of evading arrest.

Scarlett was arrested after turning himself in. He was booked and released with a GPS monitor due to his medical condition.
