MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (WKRN) – Rutherford County authorities are searching for a man they say convinced an elderly woman to write a $1,200 check for roofing repairs earlier this month.

Detective Kyle Norrod says the young man, pictured at left, allegedly identified himself as a worker for a roofing company to fix the 75-year-old woman’s roof on Feb. 11.

As the woman wrote the check, he reportedly told he to leave the payee blank.

He’s also accused of telling her the insurance company would reimburse her for the money.

Sheriff’s officials say he had a companion, who has been identified, to cash the check at a Murfreesboro bank.

If you have information on his identity, please contact Detective Kyle Norrod at 615-904-3043 and leave a message.
