HENDERSONVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – The victim of a recent road rage incident in Hendersonville has died.
The incident occurred last Friday morning around 7:20 a.m. at Anderson Lane and East Main Street.
According to police, when Bobby Dillard and Mark Scarborough reached that intersection Scarborough allegedly got out of his car and pulled open the 78-year-old man’s driver’s side door.
However, what happened next is unclear.
Police said when they arrived to the scene, Dillard was unconscious.
Dillard was transported to TriStar Skyline Medical Center where he was in critical condition before he was moved to hospice care. He has since died.
“Of course they are hurting. This is a tough thing for them. Kind of the bottom line is we are just trying to get information on what happened. They would like to know what happened at much as anyone else,” said Det. Neal Harris.
Scarborough has since been charged with one count of burglary and one count of assault because he opened Dillard’s door with the intent to harm him.
Police have turned over the case to the district attorney’s office.
“We’ll review that case with them and determine if any additional charges need to be made,” Detective Neal Harris said.
Police said several witnesses have come forward, but they believe there could be more.
Anyone with information is urged to call the Hendersonville Police Department at 615-822-1111.
