Driver escapes train collision near Portland without injury

PORTLAND, Tenn. (WKRN) – The driver of a pickup truck escaped a train collision without getting hurt Saturday night near Portland.

News 2 partner Smokey Barn News report the driver’s truck got stuck on the train tracks near the Tennessee-Kentucky state line around 6:30 p.m. Saturday.

The driver was able to get out of the truck before the train hit the vehicle.

The impact of the train pushed the pickup almost half of a mile.

Police took the driver in to custody on suspicion of DUI.

The collision marked the third train collision in February. On Feb. 1, a train in Springfield hit a pickup. A car was hit by a train in Greenbrier on Feb. 5.
