Country artist Sonny James dies at 87

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – Sonny James, a member of the Country Music Hall of Fame, died Monday at the age of 87.

James is a legend of the 1950s, 60s, 70s and 80s after rising to fame in ’56 with his hit “Young Love.” He continued to have 26 No. 1 country hits throughout the 60s and 70s.

To this day, James holds the record for the most consecutive No. 1’s by any solo recording artist throughout all musical genres.

According to his website, he died of natural causes at Alive Hospital in Nashville while surrounded by family and friends.
