WILSON COUNTY, Tenn. (WKRN) – Wilson County officials warn residents to be alert after a woman was burglarized when she allowed a woman inside her home to use the restroom.
The Wilson County Sheriff’s Office reported Candis Taylor, 29, used false pretenses to enter the victim’s home before taking some jewelry.
The victim told detectives she was trying to help Taylor, who reportedly came to her home and asked to use the restroom.
Once inside, the victim reported Taylor began wandering through the home. The victim discovered some jewelry was missing, which was later recovered from Taylor, according to the Wilson County Sheriff’s Office.
Taylor was charged with theft of property and probation violation. Her bond was set at $5,000 pending a court hearing on Feb. 29.
“We just want the public to be aware there are people out there who may try to enter your home under a ruse of needing to use the restroom or some other excuse to get inside your home,” Sheriff Bryan said. “Unfortunately, this happens from time to time and often involves older, vulnerable victims, but anyone can be a victim.”
The Wilson County Sheriff’s Office warns residents to remain aware of visitors to their home, especially when anyone asks to enter your home.
