Man in custody after Mt. Juliet officer stops burglary in process

MT. JULIET, Tenn. (WKRN) — A man was arrested after a Mt. Juliet police officer stopped a burglary in progress Tuesday morning.

It happened at around 3:15 a.m. at the Citgo Fasttrack Market on South Mt. Juliet Road.

The officer pulled up to the market and saw two men inside taking items from the store.

The suspects saw the officer and ran. One got in a white GMC pick-up truck and fled west on Central Pike.

An officer chased 52-year-old Richard Black of Nashville into the woods before taking him into custody.

Black is charged with burglary, theft of property, possession of burglary tools, possession of drug paraphernalia, vandalism, resisting arrest, evading arrest and assault.

The other man was described as a middle-aged white man with a teardrop tattoo under his left eye.
