Gov. Haslam offers reward in Smyrna fisherman’s murder

SMYRNA, Tenn. (WKRN) – Governor Bill Haslam is offering a $10,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person responsible for a Smyrna fisherman’s murder.

William “Gregg” Hawkins was shot and killed on October 16, 2015 at a boat ramp in Rutherford County.

At the time of his death, he had been fishing with his daughter and was walking to the parking lot.

Evidence suggests that the 53-year-old man came upon a crime in progress, resulting in his murder.

Hawkins is survived by his wife and two daughters.

Police said they don’t have a primary suspect.
