Portland community mourns loss of special ed teacher

PORTLAND, Tenn. (WKRN) – The community of Portland, Tennessee, is mourning the loss of a special education teacher who died in a tragic crash this week.

Glenda Brinkley was killed after crashing on Highway 52 this past Monday.

Before teaching in at Portland High School, Brinkley was an educator in Hendersonville.

“She didn’t have any children, but every kid that she taught all the way through were her kids,” said Brinkley’s wife, Allison Ott.

Services for the University of Tennessee graduate will be held Friday and Saturday. The visitation is from 2 until 8 p.m. Friday at the Cole Garrett Funeral Home in White House.

Brinkley will be laid to rest Saturday at 2 p.m. at the same location.
