NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – Wednesday is National Signing Day and high school seniors across the country inked their names to play at the next level.

University of Tennessee’s head coach Butch Jones has now added one of the best linebackers in the country to his next recruiting class, and he’s right here in Middle Tennessee.

Daniel Bituli had 13 Division 1 offers as a 4 star recruit out of Nashville Christian School.

“I’m ready for the next chapter in my life and that’s to be a Vol,” Bituli said.

He committed to Butch Jones and team all the way back in July, but he had one goal before he went off to college.

“I wanted to win this, help contribute to win this state for my team at Nashville Christian,” Bituli told News 2.

His coach at Nashville Christian, Jeff Brothers, said he was 100 percent for the school during the season and didn’t want to talk to recruiters.

“We got to win the championship. We got to win the championship not because he wanted it, like he told you, but because he wanted our school to have it,” Brothers added.

Bituli is ranked 14th in the nation for linebacker, and although many of his accomplishments come on the football field, it’s what he wants to do later in life that matters.

“My dream in life is to help kids,” he said. “I just love kids. They brighten my day. They’re like sponges; they just take in whatever they hear and I just want to be that person they hear good things from so they can be great people when they grow up.”

Bituli said his family and friends had his back “with the whole Tennessee thing” and it means the world to him.

“I’m so thankful for these people in my life,” he added.
