NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – It was a storybook ending to an amazing weekend at the NHL’s All-Star Game in Nashville with minor-leaguer John Scott earning MVP honors and a piece of the $1 million prize.
Scott scored two goals in the 3-on-3 tournament after being voted in by the fans in an online vote.
Both of Scott’s goals were scored in the Pacific Divisions 9-6 victory over a Central Division loaded up with four hometown Nashville Predators.
The Preds James Neal scored twice and Roman Josi once.
Pekka Rinne started for the Central in the net and gave up three goals in ten minutes. Devyn Dubnyk played the final 10 minutes and surrendered six goals.
The Pacific then beat the Atlantic Division 1-0 in the finals for the championship.
Scott was not listed among the three MVP candidates late in the final game, but fans took it upon themselves to pick him once again.
Teammates lifted Scott on their shoulders as he named MVP and handed the keys to a new Honda Pilot.
He also scooped up a check for a cool $1-million that he will split with his teammates 11 ways.
