NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – The deadline to register to vote in time for the March 1 presidential primary is fast approaching for eight states.

Tennessee is among the states where voters must register by the end of the day Monday.

“It’s important, especially for young people, to get out and vote and exercise their right,” said A.J. Starling with the Davidson County Election Commission.

Starling told News 2 you can register to vote by mail as long as it’s post-marked by Monday.

“We need to elect new people. It’s an exciting voting time and I encourage everyone to go vote,” he added.

If you miss Monday’s deadline, you’ll still have time to register to vote in the August and November elections.
