MT. PLEASANT, Tenn. (WKRN) – Mt. Pleasant Police say donations have been pouring in to help those in need since News 2’s story aired last week about officers buying groceries for an elderly man who hadn’t eaten in two days.

Non-perishable items and personal hygiene items are among the items that have been donated.

The police department said it wants to thank people who have contributed and remind others they are still accepting donations for those who need help in the community.

Chief says they’ve gotten calls and emails from all over the country from people thanking them for the good deed.
