Car theft, police chase, arson lead to 2 arrested in Rutherford County

RUTHERFORD COUNTY, Tenn. (WKRN) – Two people were arrested after Rutherford County sheriff’s deputies say two vehicles were stolen, they were led on a chase and a truck was burned last Thursday.

The arrests came after a Ford Expedition was reported stolen around 7 a.m. on East Compton Road.

Around 7:50 p.m., a sergeant spotted the drivers of two vehicles cutting donuts in an open field off Jacobs Hollow Road.

The sergeant reportedly spotted the Ford Expedition and asked the driver to stop, but the driver crossed two fields, crashed into a tree and ran from the scene.

Around 8:12 a.m., deputies were called to a vehicle fire on Burks Hollow Road where they found a Ford F450 truck on fire.

Once the fire was out, authorities investigated and found the truck was stolen shortly before 4 a.m. from Miller Road.

A witness helped deputies identify 18-year-old Bradley Tidwell as a suspect. He was taken into custody hiding in the Outpost Armory on Miller Lane in Christiana, Tennessee.

Tidwell was charged with theft, arson and resisting arrest. His bond was set at $20,000.

His alleged accomplice, a juvenile, was taken into custody at his home and charged with theft, arson of personal property and evading arrest.
