MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (WKRN) – A parent and a student reported Monday morning that another student at Blackman High School allegedly had a gun on the school’s campus Friday afternoon.

According to a release, school administration quickly identified the student once the allegation was reported. That student has been removed as an investigation continues.

“If the allegation proves to be true, the student will face criminal charges and will not be permitted to return to any Rutherford County school under the district’s zero tolerance policy,” Director of Schools Don Odom said.

Blackman High School has notified parents of the possible incident.

School officials said there is no report of a gun being on campus Monday.

“We want parents to know that our first priority is to maintain safe learning environments for all students, and the situation was resolved quickly,” Community Relations Coordinator James Evans said in a release.

“We will continue to keep parents informed with any additional pertinent information. Thank you for your support and understanding as we move forward.”

Additional information was not immediately released.
