NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — No. 22 South Carolina remains undefeated after knocking off Vanderbilt 69-65 handing them their third straight loss in SEC play.
Luke Kornet’s back-to-back 3-pointers helped the Commodores get off to a 6-0 lead. Damian Jones added two more points putting the lead at 8-0 and it was the largest deficit South Carolina has seen all season.
Sophomore Riley LaChance was big from beyond the arc hitting three 3’s in the first half and the ‘Dores led the first 20 minutes of play going into the half up 38-35.
But, turnovers and poor shooting allowed for South Carolina to make their comeback. Vandy was 20 for 61 shooting a mere 32% and were held to just six field-goals in the second half.
The rally proved to be too much and Vanderbilt is 0-3 in the SEC for the first time since 2013. They move to 8-7 on the season.
Vanderbilt hosts Auburn Tuesday, Jan. 12th at 8 p.m.
