NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — Ryan Johansen lived up to the hype Friday night in his debut for the Predators scoring a power play goal less than three minutes into the game on his first shot with the franchise.
It seemed like the Predators had all the momentum but the Avalanche responded with two goals to close out the period as the Preds trailed 2-1.
Ryan Ellis evened the game in the second period with his fifth goal of the season but the Preds weren’t able to keep the lead as Gabriel Landeskog scored for Colorado less than five minutes later.
All was not lost as Filip Forsberg scored his 11th goal of the year towards the end of the period to tie things up at 3-3.
Ryan Johansen was credited with an assist becoming just the third Predator to tally a goal and an assist in his debut with the team.
It wasn’t enough however as the Avs scored a second goal on the power play to take the lead and then finished things off with an empty netter to win the game 5-3.
The Preds get a chance for redemption Saturday night against the Arizona Coyotes.
