NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — Vanderbilt’s Luke Kornet is back in the lineup just days before the ‘Dores take on an undefeated South Carolina team.
The 7 feet 1 inch tall junior forward missed the last five games with an MCL tear he suffered back on December 7.
He was expected to sit out four to six weeks but made his return on Tuesday night against Arkansas posting 11 points and eight rebounds in Vandy’s overtime loss to the Razorbacks.
Before the injury Kornet was off to a career year averaging 9.5 points with 6.5 rebounds per game.
Stallings said he didn’t want to put any pressure on Kornet, saying that whatever the forward gives is going to be a positive, but he added that his performance on Tuesday night exceeded his expectations.
“He’s an extremely important part of our team an extremely vital part of our team so we’re really happy that he’s back,” said Stallings.
Vanderbilt (8-6) plays at #22 South Carolina (14-0) at 2 p.m. on Saturday.
