CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – Clarksville police are warning residents of a scheme involving a man claiming to be a Montgomery County Deputy.

On at least two different Clarksville residents received phone calls from a man claiming he is a Montgomery County Deputy, and his name is James Marshall with a badge number of 7311, according to Clarksville police.

He allegedly claimed the victims had warrants on file and that each of them needed to make a cash withdrawal of $750 to clear the warrants.

The call came from phone number #931-257-0870, according to one victim.

“A Sheriff’s Deputy would never call a citizen to solicit money. This is a scam. If you receive a phone call of this nature, hang up and notify local law enforcement,” said Sandra Brandon with the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office.
