Nashville man indicted with first-degree murder in February shooting

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – A Nashville man faces first-degree murder charges in a February shooting that left a 21-year-old dead.

A grand jury handed over the indictment against convicted felon James Sims Jr., 29.

He’s accused of shooting Dominique Rutledge during an argument inside a Jones Avenue home in east Nashville.

Sims is currently jailed in Kentucky on an unrelated federal gun charge. Police say he’ll be returned to Nashville “in due course.

He has previous convictions for robbery, burglary, evading arrest and theft.
