CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – A man was shot and killed Monday night outside a Clarksville home.

According to police, the suspect knocked on James Brown’s door on Isaac Drive just before 8 p.m.

Police said Brown, 26, exited his home and could be heard by other occupants of the home having a conversation with the unknown person(s).

A short time later, neighbors reported hearing numerous gunshots. After the shooting, Brown stumbled back into his home and died from his injuries.

Police said a black male wearing an orange shirt with short braids was seen running from the home and getting into a silver vehicle that fled from the scene.

Detectives said the shooting was not a random incident and allegedly stemmed from the sale of illegal narcotics.

Authorities added there is not a continued threat to the Isaac Drive area or the general public.

Anyone with information about the gunman’s whereabouts or identity is urged to call Crime Stoppers at 931-645-8477 or Detective Michael Ulrey at 931-648-0656 Ext. 5483.
