NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – It’s almost time to say goodbye to 2015 and hello to the new year.
The Bash on Broadway is expected to be bigger than ever, including a new stage and the Kings of Leon headlining the big event.
And if you want to go downtown with your family, there is plenty to do before the big countdown at midnight.
Mother and daughter Darlene and Alex Fehder are visiting from Kentucky for the Music City Bowl Wednesday night, but its not too early for a lot of family friendly fun on Lower Broad.
“Running into a lot of people we know from Louisville that are all here for the game. So we are just having a good time. It’s a great party atmosphere,” said Darlene Fehder.
She added, “We are walking around and shopping. We are going to go into some of the saloons and having fun and just enjoying the atmosphere.”
This year live music will begin at 6 p.m. on New Year’s Eve, but there’s also a mini-ice skating rink set up next to Bridgestone Arena.
Something else you can with the entire family is take your picture inside a huge picture frame by Walk of Fame Park.
And when it comes to food, there will be a lot more food trucks.
“The idea behind food trucks is convenience,” said Dallas Shaw with Hoss’ Loaded Burgers. “You don’t have to sit down and take an hour of your time sitting at a restaurant.”
Hoss’ Loaded Burgers is one of many trucks that will be throughout the downtown area.
“On the first two days, we have about four trucks, but on New Year’s Eve, we will 18 Nashville Food Association trucks that are going to come in and keep everybody fed.”
So even if you watching the music note drop in person is not a part of your plan, there is plenty of other things to do downtown for visitors, locals and families.
