HENNING, Tenn. (WKRN) – A west Tennessee prison was placed on lockdown after an inmate attempted to escape early Tuesday morning.
It happened at West Tennessee State Penitentiary in Henning, Tennessee.
Corrections officers prevented the inmate Arturo Perez from escaping the secure facility.
No fences were breached and the inmate never left the secure area of the prison, according to the Tennessee Department of Correction.
State officials say Perez is serving an eight-year sentence out of Davidson County for attempted aggravated robbery and aggravated burglary. He is also concurrently serving a two-year sentence out of Sumner County for reckless endangerment.
West Tennessee State Penitentiary remains on lock down as the investigation continues.
