Officer injured while arresting south Nashville robbery suspect

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – A Metro officer sustained minor injuries while apprehending a robbery suspect in south Nashville early Tuesday morning.

It happened near an apartment complex in the 3900 block of Apache Trail around 1 a.m.

Police told News 2 a man was robbed at gunpoint by three suspects while sitting in his car waiting to meet someone to sell him a phone.

The victim was able to flag down a nearby officer, who tracked down one of the suspects.

The officer was injured during a scuffle with the suspect, who is reportedly a 17-year old.

The officer was transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center for treatment of cuts he sustained during the capture and has been released.

The two other suspects remain at large. No description was immediately released.

The teen faces charges of aggravated robbery.
