NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — The United States Postal Service predicts that Monday will be the busiest mailing and shipping day for holiday packages.
“Family, friends, I even still mail cards to my co-workers, even though I could probably just hand them to them at the office, I do it anyways,” she said.
Tresner told News 2 in this digital age, there’s just something special about getting a card in the mail.
“I think it’s one of those things where people don’t get cards and letters in the mail as much because we are all texting or on our computers as far as communicating so it’s fun to still have that one traditional thing that you get in the mail I think,” she said.
If you want your cards and packages delivered by Christmas, the deadline is Tuesday for standard shipping.
It is Saturday, Dec. 19 for first class mail and Dec. 21 for priority mail.
Even if you make those deadlines, USPS spokesman David Walton told News 2 postal workers see a few common mistakes every year.
“I know a lot of folks send gift cards this time of the year. A lot of them want to stick it in a regular envelope and that’s a no, no. Our machines can’t handle that and it pulls the cards apart. So if you have a gift card you are mailing, I suggest you put it in bubble pack or priority mail envelopes,” said Walton.
Walton also told News 2 that people need to double check the zip codes on the mail and packages they are sending out.
