CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – Authorities have identified the human remains found by a hunter last Thursday morning in Montgomery County.
The remains were identified as 30-year-old Melissa Napier, formally Woodruff. She was reported missing by her brother on Dec. 8.
She was found just before 9 a.m. in the 3000 block of Tarsus Road in Palmyra, Tennessee, about 20 miles southwest of Clarksville.
Napier was an Army veteran, formally of New York, serving in the military for 4 1/2 years and rising to the rank of an E-5 Sergeant.
She completed two tours in Iraq working as a Chemical Operations Specialist.
Her young son is currently with his father in Ohio.
Her cause of death is still under investigation, and autopsy results are still pending from the medical examiner in Nashville. Foul play has not been ruled out.
