MCMINNVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – A McMinnville couple was charged with theft after the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation says they stole thousands from a company the husband co-owned.

The TBI began investigation on Aug. 7 after a theft of funds was reported at Tennessee Easel LLC.

Agents developed information implicating co-owner Charles Mayfield Jr. and his wife, Shirley Mayfield, in the crime.

The theft reportedly took place between Nov. 2008 and Nov. 2014, amounting to over $250,000.

The Mayfields were charged by a grand jury on Dec. 4. They were arrested Wednesday after turning themselves in on one count of theft over $250,000 each.

They were booked into the Warren County jail on $297,000 bond each.
