NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – The Tennessee Titans enjoyed their best game of the season with 210 yards rushing against the Jacksonville Jaguars Sunday.
Most will point to the 87 yards turned in by Marcus Mariota on his amazing touchdown run. Mariota also became the teams’ first 100 yard rusher since 2013 by turning in 112 for the game.
However, the most impressive number by the 64 turned in by rookie David Cobb and Antonio Andrews.
Cobb and Andrews carried 26 times for 98 yards, but 64 of those yards all came “after contact”.
The 230 pound bruisers run thru, by and over tacklers against the Jaguars as the Titans racked up a season high 42 points.
Head coach Mike Mularkey made it clear when he took over mid-season he wants this to be a physical running attack and was pleased with the duo’s performance saying, “Both backs, very physical, our line was physical. It was a punishing game. Big yards after contact, lower their shoulder and it was good to see we got that kind of style of play from our guys”.
Cobb had his best game since coming off of Injury Reserve Recall with 40 yards on 13 carries.
Andrews also had 13 carries, but went for 58 yards. Andrews leads the Titans this season with 466 yards rushing and 3 touchdowns.
