Brentwood Academy beats MBA 56-55 for state football title

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – There was no shortage of thrills in the Division 2-AA state championship game Thursday night.

A back and forth battle that came down to double overtime before a winner could be decided.

Montgomery Bell Academy took a late lead as Ty Chandler scored his third rushing touchdown on 258 yards to give MBA the lead late in the fourth quarter.

Brentwood Academy drove all the way down the field in a two minute drill to not only score a touchdown but tie the game with a two point conversion.

After both teams exchanged field goals in the first overtime period, MBA scored again to grab the lead but it was Brentwood Academy who took the ultimate gamble that paid off.

After scoring a touchdown to get within a point, Brentwood Academy decided to go for the win and got it as Jaremiah Oatsvall found Camron Johnson for two points and the state championship trophy.
