NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – Christmas has always been Brenda Lee’s favorite holiday, and the 60s pop star shows it in her beautifully-decorated Nashville home.
She welcomed News 2 in just in time to find out her Christmas staple was already at the top of the Billboard holiday chart.
“I just found out! ‘You’re No. 1.’ I just found out. I am ecstatic,” says Lee. “I don’t know that I’ve ever been No. 1. I’ve been No. 2, No. 3, No. 4 but this may be a first.”
It’s been almost 58 years and she still can’t believe it.
“I knew it was special,” says Lee. “I think we all knew it was special, but you really never know and to have a Christmas hit is almost unheard of.”
Lee moved to Nashville in the 50s and still has yet to do a show here–until now.
She admits it was because she was a little scared.
“I just felt like no one would come because I think, you know, when you live somewhere and people see you every day, the mystique kind of is gone,” says Lee. “And you just feel like, ‘Well, maybe no one will come.,”
Much to her surprise, tickets to her Hall of Fame show next week are going fast.
