NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – Tennessee head basketball coach Rick Barnes announced freshman Jabari McGhee is transferring after the fall semester on Tuesday.

McGhee has played in 14 games as a Volunteer averaging 4.1 points and 4.5 rebounds per game. He played in only 8 games last season before suffering a foot injury.

He played in six games this season including scoring a career-high 10 against Georgia Tech.

“Jabari and I had a great discussion about what he wants,” Barnes said. “He’s a ‘team guy,’ and what he ultimately wants is to have a more impactful (sic) role on his team, which I understand. We love him, and we want to see him be successful. We’ll do everything we can to help him find a school that is the right fit for him.”

“I’ve truly enjoyed my time here,” McGhee said. “Playing in Thompson-Boling Arena was a great experience, and the fans are wonderful.”
