NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) – Republican state Rep. Leigh Wilburn of Somerville is resigning from the Tennessee General Assembly.

Wilburn announced her decision in a letter to House Speaker Beth Harwell on Tuesday. The freshman lawmaker said she is stepping down one year into her term “due to unforeseen circumstances involving my immediate and extended family and my business.”

Her last day will be Dec. 31.
