NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – A former prostitute turned preacher spoke at a Murfreesboro church Monday night about sex-trafficking in Nashville.
Annie Lobery was a victim of the crime herself. Ten years ago, she formed the church Hookers for Jesus.
On Monday, she told parents and their teenaged children about how to stay away from the wrong people like those who sold her into the sex trade.
“This is where the kids go astray, when they are not getting the attention they need from their parents or their parents have now become their best friend, where they are letting their kids do whatever they want,” Lobery said.
The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation estimates 1,000 runaways are trafficked every year in Tennessee.
Davidson County has the highest number of cases compared to other jurisdictions in the area.
