NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – French natives all over the United States are reacting to the terrorist attacks in Paris, and that includes a college basketball player here in Nashville.

Matt Gamberoni plays for Trevecca Nazarene University and spoke to News 2 about hearing the news of the attacks.

He said he first heard of the attacks after playing a game in a tournament in Missouri last Friday.

He checked his phone and found lots of missed calls, texts and messages on social media.

“I was feeling great support from everybody in Nashville and the United States,” Gameroni said.

He told News 2 his family is safe and okay.

While he didn’t know anyone directly involved in the terror, he said a friend’s cousin passed away and another friend’s mother and aunt were killed.

“You just want everybody to stop all the bad actions and get back to peace,” said Gamberoni.

The Trevecca senior also said before their game the next day, the team held a moment of silence and prayer.

“I try to use this type of event as an emotion to go through and play for those people over there who have been through this time of violence,” he said.
