7-year-old hit while getting off school bus in Gallatin

GALLATIN, Tenn. (WKRN) – A 7-year-old first grader was hit by a car while getting off the school bus in Gallatin Monday afternoon.

It happened at 3 p.m. on North Water Avenue near St. John Vianney Catholic Church.

Gallatin police told News 2 the first grader, who goes to Benny Bills Elementary School, had visible cuts and abrasions and was transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center.

Authorities said the juvenile driver of the car, a red Dodge Stratus, apparently did not yield to the bus stop sign.

The investigation is underway. There is no word on whether or not the driver will be ticketed or charged.
