NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – Titans linebacker David Bass has been fined for a hit during Sunday’s game against the Saints.
Bass received a roughing-the-passer penalty and was fined $17,363 for the hit on Drew Brees that required the quarterback to receive stitches.
On Thursday, the Titans player said he didn’t think he deserved to be flagged or fined. He added that he plans to appeal the decision.
“I have spoken with people and gotten different opinions from people, including coaches, and nobody thinks it’s a fineable offense. It’s my first time getting fined, so I think that’s a little steep considering it’s my first offense,’’ Bass said. “That is a lot of money. I don’t care how much money you make in the world — that is a lot of money. Hopefully it gets overturned. The appeal is set for next week.”
The Titans beat the Saints Sunday 34-28 in overtime.
The team is now 2-6 this season.
