NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – Hospice care has been arranged for country singer Joey Feek of the country duo Joey and Rory following her release from the hospital.
According to the family’s blog, the 40-year-old mother was admitted to the hospital early Friday morning in Muncie, Indiana, due to pain.
“The pain was from the cancer tumors continuing to grow and become inflamed and we need to concentrate now on helping her be comfortable. Not the answer we hoped for… but the answer He has given us,” Rory Feek wrote.
Joey is expected to be released from the hospital on Monday, and according to the post, Hospice care has been arranged and a hospital bed will be delivered to their home.
“We prayed. We all prayed. God answered. Not the answer we hoped for… but the answer He has given us,” Rory said.
Joey was diagnosed with Stage IV cervical cancer and underwent surgery earlier this year, as well as chemotherapy and radiation treatment.
In recent weeks, the couple announced she had stopped medical treatment after it discovered the cancer had spread.
“Joey is at peace with where she is and where she’s going. So am I. An answer to prayer,” Rory wrote on the blog.
Joey and Rory married in 2002 and welcomed a daughter last year.
