NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – Following this weekend’s work, the ongoing Fast Fix project will be about 90 percent complete.
Beginning at 8 p.m. Friday through 6 a.m. Monday, Interstate 40 will be closed from the I-40/I-65 split west of downtown to the I-40/I-65 split south of downtown. Charlotte Avenue will also be closed from 11th to 16th avenues.
During the closure, all traffic will be detoured to allow crews to remove and replace the I-40 eastbound bridge over Charlotte Avenue.
There will not be any on- or off-ramp access at Demonbreun Street, Broadway, Church Street or Charlotte Avenue. The ramp to I-40 West from Second and Fourth avenues will also be closed.
This weekend’s closure marks the eighth. The Tennessee Department of Transportation has planned for a total of 13 closures.
TDOT spokeswoman Heather Jensen said all of the closures may not be needed; however the department anticipates at least two weekend interstate closures in November.
